![]() ![]() Elspeth’s Talent helps you flood the board with three 1/1 Soldier tokens, giving any planeswalker which can’t normally protect itself a chance to stick on the table for a little longer.Įven better, every time you activate a planeswalker ability, you get to pump your team with +2/+2 and vigilance for a turn. As the first planeswalker-specific auras, these cards grant new abilities to any planeswalker they enchant. The entire Talent cycle brings with it some incredible new abilities and approaches to planeswalkers in Commander. Since Moria and Teshar only cares if the card would go anywhere else other than exile, Eerie Interlude and others that would exile cards before returning them to the battlefield bring the reanimated card permanently to play. You can use cards like Sundial of the Infinite to end the turn before the exile trigger would occur, or you can exile it with spells like Eerie Interlude. That permanent gets haste, but is exiled at the beginning of the next end step. Moria and Teshar let you reanimate a nonland permanent when you cast a historic spell. Though, it might take some work to keep them around. Reanimation is something of a specialty for white and black cards, and with Moria and Teshar, you can bring your cards back over and over again. Cards like Arcane Adaptation, Conspiracy, Xenograft, and Unnatural Selection can turn all your creatures into Knights, and in turn, give them all horsemanship. If you’re not playing Knights, there are plenty of ways to trick Herald of Hoofbeats into thinking all your creatures are Knights. There are 31 creatures with horsemanship in Magic, but with Herald of Hoofbeats, your entire deck can be an unstoppable force. While Herald of Hoofbeats is limited to giving Knights horsemanship, there are plenty of ways to make it work. There is no way around it, a card which grants all your other cards horsemanship is going to be extremely powerful. Now let’s take a look at the cards releasing alongside them, exciting creatures, mysterious artifacts, and the tools which give March of the Machine some character. ![]() Patriarch's Bidding - certainly a card that would be good in this deck, however my vampire count is dwindling, so maybe not.Last week we took a look at some of the most powerful commanders from March of the Machine, with cards like Elenda and Azor, Shalai and Hallar, and Urabrask showing tremendous potential to be extremely powerful commanders. ![]() Hatred - on the reserve list so this is definitely high on my priority listĪustere Command - one of the best removal spells in the game Land Tax, Smothering Tithe - powerful tax cards that are on theme Kindred Dominance - one of the better one sided wipes for the deck I think, although very high in mana cost. Martyr's Bond - I could see this card finding a home hereĪd Nauseam - this isn't explicitly a combo deck, but I feel that a lifegain deck could use this card anyway Shadowspear - this one of the most efficient ways of giving Elenda trample that I can think of. Nim Deathmantle, Reanimate - should work well for what we are doing Vampiric Tutor - big money, but I would drop it for this deck because it's on theme!!Įnlightened Tutor - derp! only goes in every white deck everĪnointed Procession - although not fully utilized here as in other decks, I think it would still be worth having It's one of my newer decks, so I haven't invested much in it yet till I get a good feel for what works and what doesn't. There are a ton of cards that would be good to acquire for this deck. Time will tell what the right number of vamps is for the deck. Honestly, I'm ok with that because Elenda has no direct synergy with the creature type. I started to notice my vampire count dwindle as I brought in more synergistic cards. Bloodghast and Necropolis Regent both have performed perfectly. Some of them I absolutely love, but others aren't feeling like they contribute to my overall gameplan. My choice of vampires definitely isn't perfect. So, there are one sided or selective board wipes here for that purpose. I found that one of the best ways to get counters on Elenda is to kill my opponents creatures. I relish the opportunity to really find the best ways of getting the most consistent value out of her. She is one of the few commanders that actually want to go to your graveyard rather than the command zone. What are some great ways to spend life?Įlenda felt like she would be a challenging commander to build around. I'd like to find a few more excellent payoffs for a high life count of similar caliber to Bolas's Citadel. I also was very intrigued by building a lifegain deck that used that resource fully and even as a means to win, which didn't seem to require red at all to accomplish. I already own a Mardu deck, and going purely Orzhov felt more flavorful. ![]() I wanted to build a vampire tribal deck but didn't want to be like everyone else and build Edgar Markov. ![]()
